Global professional services giant EY has appointed two Europe-based leaders as global heads of its advisory and consulting divisions.

London-based Errol Gardner has been named Global Vice Chair of Advisory services. In the role, he is responsible for EY’s Advisory division worldwide, heading a team of 67,000 consultants in 100+ countries. Gardner succeeds Norman Lonergan, who led the global service line through rapid growth during his twelve year tenure at the. 

When Lonergan took the reins, EY Advisory booked revenues of $3.6 billion globally. Last year, the division generated $10.2 billion, making it EY’s fastest growing service line over the past decade. “Norman has been instrumental to the success of EY over the past years, he has laid a path for the future to help enable our continued progress,” said Carmine Di Sibio, EY’s Global Chairman and CEO. 

Having joined EY, formerly Ernst & Young, as a Partner in 2009, Gardner has over 25 years of professional services experience. The University of Nottingham graduate focuses on technology consulting, and previously was EY’s global leader for technology consulting. He has extensive experience leading SAP and Oracle transformations, digitisation and data analytics.

Gardner, who served as Global Deputy Vice Chair for Advisory since 2016, focuses primarily on the financial services sector, and held leadership positions in EY’s Financial Services in Europe. He also has a track record in the oil & gas and power & utilities sectors. 

Meanwhile, the Italian Andrea Guerzoni has been appointed Global Vice Chair for Transaction Advisory Services, EY’s wing that provides corporate finance, financial advisory and restructuring advisory services. The unit has more than 17,000 professionals worldwide and generates $4.1 billion in revenues, up from $1.9 billion in 2009. 

Guerzoni currently serves as EY’s EMEIA (Europe, Middle East, India and Africa) leader for Transaction Advisory Services, a post he has held since 2014. Over the past two decades, Milan-based Andrea has advised corporate boards and private equity firms across the globe on M&A, post-deal integrations, strategic portfolio reviews, IPOs, reorganisations and restructuring processes. 

His predecessor, London-based Steve Krouskos, who headed the unit since the summer of 2016, has been appointed Global Managing Partner Business Enablement. Lonergan will meanwhile become head of EY’s Global People Advisory Services practice, effective 1 January 2021.

Both Gardner and Guerzoni sit on EY’s Global Executive leadership team, which is led by Di Sibio and further consist of leaders of functions, geographies and committees.
